Car UI - Seat Adjustment
A few weeks ago, I applied for a job at an established design agency and I was given a design task to show both my design process and problem solving skills. In short, the task was to design a car UI that solves a specific problem.
While I was doing my research on the problems of cars, I stumbled upon a video of Mercedes explaining how the seat adjusments work in one of their models. After watching it, I had to watch it again because it was hard to memorize at once and it simply didn’t make sense. As it caught my interest, I dug a little deeper and saw that couple other cars are following the same approach including BMW.
As there's a lot to talk about my own approach, I'm thinking of writing a bit more detailed case stud for it in the near future. I'm aware that it might have cons like being unable to lean forward at a certain point while the seat is leaning backwards but I had a very limited time, so yeah.. It was definitely both challenging and fun though!
