Superhuman baseline grid
We've meticulously laid out all type in Superhuman against a baseline grid. Perfect layout like this is near impossible to achieve; we had to reverse engineer Chrome’s font engine and build our own layout engine to do it. Just a small example of some of the detail and delight in Superhuman.

CRT Screen Heart Monitor Titles
This is another excerpt of a motion graphics shot I created for a documentary project's Kickstarter video.
I wanted this to look sort of like a close up of an old monochrome CRT monitor. The look is based off of the LCD pixel effect from VideoCopilot. I wanted a hard front edge with a soft leading trail for the electrocardiogram tracing (heart monitor line). It ended up being much less complicated than I thought it would be to achieve that look once I spent some time “reverse engineering” it.

Digital Wallet Animation
This is a segment of animation from an explainer video that I looped for Dribbble. The video was made for a startup in Birmingham that is developing an app that stores driver licenses and student IDs.
The illustrations were created by a designer in Illustrator and I animated everything in After Effects.

Jefferson Bethke Kinetic Typography
Here's part of a kinetic typographic animation I did for Jefferson Bethke in the summer of 2014. You can see the full spoken word video here!
The typography was created and animated in After Effects. The illustrated elements (like the scroll and megaphone) were created in Illustrator.

History of Mother's Day Animation
I love the quirkiness of collage illustration and wanted to use a form of that in a video I made on the history of Mother's Day.
The elements were combined together in Photoshop and then animated in After Effects.

Happy new year animation
Happy new year! 2015 was a big year. I became Mrs Mair Bain after getting married to my partner of 8.5 years. We got married in Las Vegas then had a honeymoon road trip adventure up the Pacific coast of the USA. My husband got a new job and I completed an animation course online which has inspired and educated me in so many ways. Oh and we also adopted two more cats from the RSPCA.
I'm also very grateful to all the people who have commissioned work from me or supported my artwork. Thank you for enabling me to do my dream job! :)
So here's a fun little animation to celebrate. I fancied trying some of my hand drawn illustrations with After Effects.
