The Truth About Bézier Graphs

The Truth About Bézier Graphs

I am rebounding another time I trolled @Dribbble. Is it just me or or are these bézier line graphs that are becoming more and more frequent sacrificing what could probably be a better design decision for what's trendy and just darn sexy? Don't get me wrong, I too love a good hot bézier over a minimal grid. But, let's be honest. Béziers look best when the points have a good distance between them and you can get some decent distance on your handles. And, while I might be generalizing, line graphs and charts are meant to simplify and visualize change over some variable (in this case time). That change is rarely going to be perfectly positioned (and have few enough points) to result in these beautiful bézier curves. In use, bézier lines will sadly probably look like anything from a toddler drawing a line to a slightly smoother asymmetrical waveform.

I am not saying there's never a use, but am I crazy or is this a little out of hand?

Google Login Experience

Google Login Experience

Signing into Google products with the current Google Login is a confusing experience since it moves the user to a completely different page. Every product team must redirect the user to this page every time they want to sign in:
https://accounts.google.com/serviceloginauth

There are probably reasons for the current sign in process (security, etc), but I still believe the experience could be more consistent with keeping the user in context. So I had a simple solution where the log in could just be an overlay on any product page that required the Google Sign In so the user stays on the page they were at.

I also incorporated some interactions with username validation and a password completion. Love to know what all of your thoughts are!
