3D Renders for Design Systems Series, ep. 5
Oh hey there, Dribbble. Here's a peek at some new 3D work I created for the latest episode of InVision’s Design Systems: Mastering Design at Scale. This episode is all about getting your design system out of pilot mode and supporting more product teams.
Imagery-wise, I wanted to stay with the machine automation vibe from previous episodes, but also get across the importance of UI consistency over multiple products.
To create the 3D UI screens, I used a wireframe UI kit imported into Cinema 4D as a .ai file, then extruded it and dropped it into a fracture object which broke up all the pieces nicely. I could then animate the entire thing with just 2 keyframes using a step effector.
For the low-poly orb, I started with a spherical landscape object, reduced the geometry and dropped it into a displacer object with some noise to animate it. Then just copied and pasted a couple of times (making sure to change the seed to avoid getting the same noise pattern) and boom: animation automation!
Hit the L key (thanks!) and then go take a look at the episode to see it all in context (and maybe pick up a few new collaboration tips).

Following my explorations last week with my in the mix compositions I thought it would be cool to see how they could work with graphics I did for a concept with Nike.

End of the Universe
Sneak peak of my next project for TED ED!
It was an amazing experience to be responsible for a big project for the first time. And to do it for the folks at TED ED just makes me happier. Stay tuned to find out how our universe is going to end!
(spoiler alert: no worries, we're still several billion years away from the end!)
