Firing Animation
Over the last couple of months I started digging into After Effects. This is something I cooked up over the last week. I have a long way to go but I'm excited to keep learning! It was challenging to find the appropriate frame rate and gif settings in Photoshop to get the animation fairly smooth.
The glock illustration originated from a series of Gun Control posters I did for my Senior Project before graduation last year. I may post those in the future.
Make sure to check out 2x.
Thanks!

Personal Website Animation
I figured seeing as there is quite a lot of movement and animation on my new personal site (nrly.co) it was a good time for me to put my GIF making skills to the test! It's also pretty hard to get across all the interactve elements of a website in a single static shot so here ya go.
Also for anyone that is interested in the development side of it, I thought it might be useful to share the various scripts and resources I pulled together to create the site. In fact this was more of a dev practice than design as the site is basically a result of rapid prototyping rather than loads of Photoshop design work.
Particles in the header - Particles.js
Fixed background scrolling effect - Codrops Blueprint
Scroll triggered animations - WOW.js (the website is jokes but this is actually really useful for newbies like me!)
One last thing! It's also up as a nominee for the Awwwards, I know it's only a little site so is unlikely to win but appreciate any votes all the same :)

Test Cloud - RubberHose Rig
Experimenting with a new type of rigging system that takes much of the complexity out of character animation. Place shoulder and hand controllers (or hip and foot), define the arm/leg length and the bend happens automatically. No parenting to fight against, no IK chains to get confused, no precomps to get gross if you scale up or change art style.
NOTE: the limb is rendered as a stroke on a single path. This is good for some things and really rough for others. Stroke weight is consistant, and but because it's a single path you can duplicate, trim and re-style the stroke. Sleeves were built using this feature.
The same system was used for the fingers in this.
