This was a line drawing animation that was animated for Yeti's homepage redesign but it just didn't seem to fit right. Not every idea can make it to the final stage, but that's okay. Sometimes, the journey is more important. You learn valuable design lessons like what works and what doesn't, taking the important pieces that were generated and carrying them over to production. Just because something can be animated, doesn't mean it should be.

Coarse iPad gestures
Another excerpt from our upcoming interaction guidelines article, Designing for Touch (inspired by @bigmediumjosh's book).
As device screens get larger, it gets harder to move your hands and fingers around the screen. That’s why larger screens favor coarse gestures like full-screen swipes, as opposed to fine-tuned button taps. And while any gesture is great, consistent gestures are even better—that’s why we want to let the user’s muscle memory, not visual guidelines, do the job.
DO: Favor coarse gestures and make interaction zones as big as possible.
