Happy New Year - gif
I've finally accepted that I'll have to go back to work soon. Figured I'd get back in the swing of things with a quick illustration/animation for the final holiday of 2013. I'll be spending it chillin' with my family (which is my favorite way to spend MOST holidays nowadays...haha). Happy New Year everyone!
Resolution Countdown
We made a GIF & blog post to celebrate an absolutely killer year here at deep.
Illustration by me, animation by the talented Doren Chapman, and words by copywriter extraordinaire Mike Billeter.
I Can't Even [gif]
Okay. Let me explain.
I've been thinking about typography in different mediums such as 3D sculpture and digital animations. I can draw lettering fine, but going beyond a static image is an interesting challenge for me and one that I'm going to explore in the coming year.
Is this going to get on the popular page? God, I hope not. This is simply a proof of concept for animated typographic gifs, and it serves as a baseline for future work in this area.
I'll be posting this and other stuff like this to our Tumblr.
Feel free to use this as a reaction gif, if your heart so desires.

Tweak
Over the Holidays, I've been building a new prototyping tool to help with designing iOS apps, called Tweak. It's essentially an animation/interaction prototyping app, built on top of UIKit.
Working with tools like Quartz Composer and Framer.JS is generally amazing, but there's always that moment once you have things just right in your prototype that you have to play the interpretation game with developers to actually implement things. Tweak aims to get rid of that translation process since you're tuning things with actual UIKit code. The values you use in a prototype are the real values and code that can ship in a production app.
Stay tuned for more.
Shout out to @[1005:Jorn van Dijk], from whom I stole the lovely animation icon :)

Hey everyone,
yesterday morning, with the crazy dream team from Code-N-Go.com, we realized that we didn't prepared anything for the new year. 2013 has been an amazing year for us so we couldn't imagine finishing this year without a quick and dirty "Code N Go" project.
So here come GifMyWishes.com We did it yesterday, in the new year rush, with our girlfriends and mothers screaming on us on our back. It's easy, predictable, cliché but, hey, who doesn't like cute cat GIFS :)
The website is made for mobile first, use it to send your funny wishes for the new year directly from your smartphone while you are having the time of your life and don't forget to share !
Have a great New Year's Eve, we wish you the best for 2014 !
Cheers,
The Geeks from Code-N-Go.com
PS: Some animations may be different depending on your browser. It sucks, I know… We gonna work on it after the hang over
Form Animation in Photoshop
I've been experimenting with a few prototyping tools. Part of my role as a designer/developer is to communicate efficiently with my team, developers, product manager, marketing etc, so that we can bring to life a product people love. Prototyping will help us share smal details, microinteractions, to big layout interactions so I decided to learn a prototyping tool. Photoshop has the animation timeline built-in so I've been playing with it. I'm not proficient with it, and found it to be a fair tool for prototyping. One thing I struggled with was making type animated since it requires separate layers for each letter, but it's working. What do you think? What are you using for prototyping? What tool do you use for prototyping?
